Wet Dream Question

Postby Mrs J » Tue Oct 29, 2013 6:49 am

How does a wet dream work? Do you wake up during or after? Does it always correlate to an actual dream? Does it always correlate to an orgasm? Do you remember the orgasm? Sorry, just some questions from a girl.

I'm curious what prompted you're asking this question. regardless I'll be happy to answer..a wet dream is a result of hormone surge as well as the male body maturing.
from my experience you don't wake up during the dream, but when you wake up your underwear is wet from the semen you ejaculate which happened while you were sleeping.
I'm just speaking from my experience . . . Mine always were associated with an actual dream.
Whether or not its associated with orgasm is debatable but ejaculation is certainly the key component.

There were times I just woke up in the morning needing a change of clothing and not able to remember the dream itself, and there were times I remembered the dream, times I wish I didn't remember the dream, and times I've woken up in the middle of an orgasm.

I always had a dream. A dream of having sex, missionary position always, always the same girl. And I could point to her photo in my school year books. Wet dreams always went to ejaculation for me making a mess in my shorts at the same time. If I woke up I would change. if not, I woke up with my shorts stuck to my skin or hair. Sometimes I would have two dreams in the same night and change shorts twice. Have not had a wet dream in like almost 50 years.

The only dreams I have now of that nature are having to urinate. In the dreams I urinate, then I have to urinate again, and again and again finally I wake up and realize I am about to bust ...so I head to the bathroom. Some of the dreams are kind of weird. Like I go to urinate in my dream and the bathroom door is locked, or the door is too narrow for me to get through or the commode is under the bathroom sink or under the bed ....all manor of obstacles in my dreams that keep me from urinating.

Hmmmm maybe I need to dust off my yearbook and see if that girls photo triggers a response.

He girl, since you asked. For me it is a mixed bag that is always a surprise no matter how or when it happens. My wife didn’t know that guys have erections every time they go into REM sleep which is several times each night. It is during the REM period when they would typically happen. Most of mine occur during my first or second REM period which must be not too long after I fall asleep. I’m not even aware of or remember those until I notice scratchy underwear fabric when I get up the next morning. When they happen more closely to my normal wake up time sometimes there is a dream I’ll remember it as intense but not sexual like sky diving, hang gliding, or something usually related to flying and falling but sometime just bizarre like my last one was I was being chased by monkeys in a jungle and got trapped in some vines. Those don’t usually get me fully awake but feel dizzy or disoriented and I kind of dream I’m peeing myself because there isn’t really an orgasm and it oozes out in a few separate streams without much force. The most intense are usually sexual in nature and will wake me up with a hard ejaculation. Those are usually close to the time the alarm would go off and I think are related to what guys call their morning wood when testosterone levers are highest.

I’m 32 and I still have a couple WDs a year, but nothing like when I was back in my early 20s. On my mission I would have one once a week or every other week. I went out of my way to not let my companions find out. I knew they were a part of life, and I didn’t really feel guilty, but I never wanted to be accused of anything either. My blood work comes back at upper end of normal testosterone in my system. My doctor asks if I feel overly aggressive or seek out risky behavior, which I don’t, but I was too embarrassed to tell him how that higher level does present itself.

Ooops, just realized this was in the moderated section. I apologize if it is too much information.

Prince, I would let your doctor know this next time. No need to be embarrassed. He is a doctor, I am sure he has heard some bizarre things but I doubt he considers your current wd to be one of them. He probably asked the question for a reason. Do you find the release this way helpful to you sexually or is it more frustrating?

Oh and I didn't find anything you posted to be inappropriate.

For some reason once I got out on my mission I never had had them, not even an erotic dry dream. I may have had one or two between returning home and getting married, but none on my mission and none after getting married. I still have sexual dreams now and then though.

Sometimes we stop dreaming because we 'grow up' becoming 'sophisticated' and somehow above such dreaming. We don't allow ourselves to dream.

He is asking because my higher testosterone levels can also increase red blood cell production which can lead to a thickening of the blood and a possible increase in the risk of clotting. Us guys are not open as you ladies are. I remember going to our first pre-natal appointment with my wife when she was pregnant. The OBGYN had us fill out a questionnaire and my wife answered a simple yes to the question about anal sex. I told her it was a fill in the blank so instead of writing yes, write attempted once but didn’t really work out and also put it was her idea not mine. She left is as yes.

Neither. Wet dreams as a means of the body’s natural mechanism for release is a cultural urban legend. I’ve had wet dreams the night after sex with my wife. My guess is it has more to do with the perfect storm of brain chemicals and an erection getting trapped in underwear causing some stimulation added to the mix. I get about as much relief from a wet dream as I do a sneeze because there is not a lot of premeditated or mental joy in either.

Wet dream is the term most often used. It is also called a nocturnal emission. I know you all know this, but it's just a sleeping orgasm--and the only permissible release for a compliant LDS adolescent. As a kid (age 14-21) 90% of the time I just woke up after a nocturnal emission soaked, having ejaculated--no dream. I think as a virgin and a someone who didn't watch porn, I wasn't "dreaming" about a sexual experience and ejaculating, I was tossing & turning while asleep & it was enough for a nocturnal emission. When I masturbated regularly (which I did a LOT at times as a teen) I didn't have nocturnal emissions--my body didn't need the release, I suppose. In conversations with my wife I learned that she used to assume boys had wet dreams because they were thinking too much about sex. I think the opposite is true. The ones having nocturnal emissions or wet dreams have a build up of semen because they are not masturbating or having any other outlet. On my mission and for 3 years after (when at BYU) I never masturbated and had wet dreams several times a week--almost every day--especially when I was most physically exhausted--one of the blessings of being a hard-working missionary & athlete in college. In dry periods of our marriage I had wet dreams every week or so after going a long time without sex. In those cases I often did have dreams--because I have experienced sex. Usually the dreams were about my wife. Occasionally not. Sometimes you wake up during orgasm, that's nice enough. As a young man, it is pure torture to wake up just before you would have climaxed. The tension is hell. It hurts. You can't sleep; you avoid the sin of masturbation and are grouchy and have erections on and off the whole next day. Then, the next night you are so horny you can't sleep so you don't have a nocturnal emission--because you're sleeping so fitfully. You nearly go insane from the tension, physical discomfort, intense sensitivity & need for release. Then, after a week like this you hardly touch yourself in the shower--masturbate and are plagued by guilt. I do feel for the youth. I remember praying for nocturnal emissions. It's nice to be married--not just for the sex, but it definitely is a huge mental health benefit. There should be a poll inquiring about past and present practice when waking during a wet dream--just before climax. As a kid I would never finish myself off. Now it would not be a problem.
